The lesson plans below are designed to give teachers tools for helping students achieve key components of the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE) Career Education and Work (CEW) Standards. They can be used individually or in combination, to create units. Developed in collaboration with Catalyst Connection, each comes in a downloadable PDF format that:
- Describes specific connections to CEW Standards
- Details available opportunities for artifacts needed to document student learning and fulfill PDE’s requirements for Future Readiness
- Provides video links for students who may be interested in manufacturing careers
If you’re an educator looking for career exploration lessons for middle or high school students, please feel free to use them in your classroom or after-school program. Each uses videos created by students in Catalyst Connections’ “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” contest. However, they can easily be used without the videos, allowing for students to focus on any manufacturing employer or even other sectors of the workforce. Aligned with CEW Standards, each lesson plan offers an opportunity for a student artifact to include in PA Future Readiness portfolios.
