Seeking mentors!

Published September 2, 2022 by Debbie Pixton

The Consortium is again seeking professionals of color to serve as volunteers in the mentoring program we offer to districts participating in EdLeaders Pittsburgh. Scheduled once a month in each participating school, the mentoring sessions are aimed at helping students of color practice professional communications skills while building relationships with adults willing to serve as role models and/or resources. This year’s program will be offered as a “hybrid” model, with Consortium staff attending all mentoring sessions in-person while bringing mentors in either in-person or virtually, depending on their preference. Last year’s program drew more than 15 mentors, many of whom are returning to join with new volunteers in supporting students of color as they think about post-secondary pathways. To volunteer, email Frank Kamara or Gina Barrett.
