CPE’s mentoring impact honored at The Magic of Mentoring

Published October 31, 2023 by Debbie Pixton

A longstanding partner of the Consortium, The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern PA, is widely recognized for The Magic of Mentoring – an event held every other year to celebrate the power of mentoring that honors people, organizations, and programs that power those influential relationships.

Among other amazing organizations, the Consortium was recognized as the Program Honoree during this year’s event. Gina Barrett and Frank Kamara, who have led the Consortium’s mentoring work, were there to receive the award, along with two of our longtime mentors – Connie Andres and Vann Williams.

Gina and Frank have helped organize mentoring for more than 150 students from the Clairton City, Woodland Hills, McKeesport Area, Penn Hills, and Steel Valley school districts. Through their recruitment efforts, these students built long-lasting relationships and networks with dozens of community mentors.

Jackie Foor, executive director at the Consortium reflected: “We are grateful that The Mentoring Partnership chose to celebrate the Consortium and Frank and Gina’s outstanding work. The relationships they fostered between the students and mentors and the positive outcomes are a testament to the lasting impact of this work.”
