| Middle-High Forum Begins |
The Consortium for Public Education, in partnership with Duquesne University, has launched a new initiative – the Middle-High Forum – to help schools provide a seamless, successful educational experience for students as they move from sixth through 12th grade.
A two-day October retreat at Seven Springs Resort brought teams from 14 participating school districts together for the initial meeting in what will be a two-year process to develop goals and strategies to improve middle and high schools.
"The overriding goal is creating a journey through middle and high school that kids will experience as smooth and comfortable,” project staff member Robert Rodrigues told the group. “We know we deal with the expectations of kids coming into middle school and the fears of students going on to high school,” he added, to knowing nods from the audience of fellow teachers and administrators. “The core values of the Forum, to date, are: every child matters and every adult that interacts with kids is important.”
