KENNYWOOD CAPER '04

2007 Great Kennywood Caper!

Another great Caper, another great party! The Consortium’s fourth signature fundraiser at Kennywood Park  on Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, drew some 1,600 people for an evening of fun and games, rides and favorite Kennywood food. Our thanks go out to all who supported The Great Kennywood Caper 2004, from ticket-holders to major event sponsors.

The Caper happens just once every three years (the first was in 1995), thanks to Harry Henninger of Kennywood, who makes an extraordinary “gift” of the park to the Consortium for the evening. Other major gifts in 2004 came from Waste Management, United Steelworkers of America, Sky Bank and Steel City Media. Companies, individuals and organizations from across the Pittsburgh area provided additional underwriting.

The photos on these pages provide a snapshot look at the evening.

Sponsors' banners decorated the park.

The best way to enjoy the Caper is to round up your "buds" and have a few suds!

Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers (left) were the evening's main entertainment. Bob Baldis of PSEA was among those attending the VIP Reception (right).

Time out for a group photo.

The major Caper sponsors were royalty for an evening. Left to right are Ben Woods, Waste Management; Kenny Kangaroo; Debbie Tawney, Sky Bank; Leo W. Gerard, United Steelworkers of America; and Linda L. Croushore, Consortium Executive Director.

Dr. Croushore also presented a gift to Sue Fontanese of Kennywood Park.

Tom Fauls of Steel City Media, another major Caper sponsor, redeems his winning tickets at Prize Central.

Kenny Kangaroo was everyone's favorite photo op, including Rep. Ted Harhai (right photo) of Monessen.

Consortium Office Manager Ginny Dunsavage (right) greets some of the more than 150 volunteers who made the Caper run smoothly.

Consortium staff members put finishing touches on the Silent Auction Booth.

The Clairton Teachers Trio provided music at the VIP Reception.
