DONATIONS / VOLUNTEERS

Raising Friends and Funds
The Consortium enjoys a broad base of financial support but always is in the friend-and-fund-raising mode. We pursue, on an ongoing basis, public and private monies, special funds and targeted grants to implement programs in schools and communities.

The Consortium’s budget has grown from $37,500 in 1987 to $1.5 million today. However, the dollars-and-cents figures do not reflect the value of the many resources that Mon Valley schools and communities have accessed through the Consortium. With a proven track record for quality work and an ever-widening network of friends and partners, we are uniquely positioned to broker all opportunities that come our way, to the best advantage of our constituents.

The Consortium depends on volunteers to help us with many of our activities – Mon Valley Reads, For the Love of Books, The Great Kennywood Caper, special events, etc. If you would be interested in volunteering your time or if you have questions, you may call 412-678-9215 or e-mail us at info@tcfpe.org. You may also complete our on-line volunteer registration.

If you are interested in supporting the Consortium financially, we have a number of charitable giving options.

United Way Contributor Choice – The Consortium for Public Education is a Contributor Choice agency. Our code number is 2910.

Corporate Gifts – These can be targeted for specific projects or for core operating support of the organization.

Planned Giving/Memorial Bequests – These provide long-term planning that will allow your commitment to public education to live on.

Change For Children – A program that allows individuals in a school system to support the Great Idea Grant Initiative by making direct contributions to the teacher-level grant fund in their home district. You can donate the change from your paycheck or make a specified contribution each month.

Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) – Authorizes the award of tax credits to businesses that make contributions to educational improvement organizations such as the Consortium. A business may receive a tax credit equal to 75% of its contribution to an approved organization, up to a maximum of $200,000 per taxable year. The tax credit may be increased to 90% of the contribution made if the business agrees to provide the same contribution to the organization for two consecutive years. A contribution is a donation of cash, personal property or services.

Grassroots Giving – Contributions in any amount may be made at any time. Contributions may be sent to:
