McKeesport High School Alumni and Friends Association inducts six more members into the
MHS Hall of Fame in October 2007.

The McKeesport High School Alumni and Friends Association is about looking back – and looking ahead.

It's about remembering high school days, the people who knew you "when", the excitement of a Tiger football game on a crisp fall night, the class you struggled (or excelled) in, that special teacher who cared so much, the pride you felt on graduation day. But it's also about the future, about doing something positive to encourage students in the high school today, about sharing the pride all McKeesport graduates feel.

When you join the McKeesport High School Alumni and Friends Association, you become an important part of the community and school district at a time when your support and involvement are needed most.

The organization is open to all McKeesport graduates as well as all other "friends" who are committed to excellence in public education.

Members have an opportunity to contribute each year to a "give back" gift for the high school. These gifts have made an important statement to our students – that McKeesport Area High School is an alma mater worthy of respect.

Each year, a select group of McKeesport alumni is inducted into the McKeesport High School Hall of Fame, a special gallery of achievers established in 1987 by the alumni association. Plaques honoring each year's inductees are on permanent display at the high school.

The alumni association also acts as a clearinghouse for classes planning reunions and can provide limited assistance in contacting class members. Association members receive the "Share Our Pride" newsletter twice yearly.

Yearly memberships in the McKeesport High School Alumni and Friends Association are available in the following categories:

High School Courtyard Project

The alumni association is providing major funding for this extensive renovation, and is continuing to sell commemorative bricks for $100 each. The initial financial commitment covered removal of concrete benches and several trees. Subsequent funding has been used for concrete, landscaping work and supplies, plantings, decorative stones, and risers. Additional money is being sought for benches and the final touches, possibly including a fountain, that will make the courtyard an oasis in the middle of the building complex.

Dr. Linda L. Croushore, alumni association president, acknowledged that the project “has been a long time coming,” but said it has been well worth the wait. “Michael Locke and his Building Construction students, who are doing the bulk of the work, have done a beautiful, professional job,” she said.

The commemorative bricks purchased by alumni and friends will be located in designated sections of the courtyard. The initial space, at the end of the new walkways, can accommodate 600 bricks. To date, some 200 bricks have bee sold.Dr. Croushore, noting the extent of the work detailed above, said that the $100 brick price reflects “much more than the material cost of the bricks...It is helping to offset overall construction expenses.”

The alumni association continues to sell commemorative bricks for $100 each. For complete details and an order form, click here.
